PARENTS
Welcome to my classroom. I want to take this section to explain to the parents of my students what I expect from their children and what I expect from them. From both parents and students I expect trust. This is going to be a huge component of my classroom. I have core expectations; however trust is the most important. I need to be able to trust my students and I need parents to trust I am doing the best job to educate their students. Part of this trust is an open door policy. I want the parents of my students to feel comfortable in discussing with me any concerns they may have with my classrooms. I will always listen and promise to objectively incorporate any suggestions. Along with this I will be in constant contact with the parents. This means weekly e-mails on progress. Each parent will receive a personalized e-mail from me on how their child is doing. These will be e-mailed on the final day of each week. On the first day of class each student will take home a “Contacts and Information” sheet to be filled out by their parents. This is your chance as parents to tell me anything you feel I will need to know to help better educate your child, along with allowing you to provide me with any and all methods of communication. Obviously communication is key to my classroom success, and I cannot stress enough on the parents how much I need open communication from you.

My classroom incorporates a ton of technology. The internet is a major resource to this classroom, and often our projects will be internet based. Most of the time I will use my own laptop for presentations and learning instruction, however there will be time students are asked to use resources outside of class. I am always available to help with this, but I want to parents know now there will be outside work being done. The technology we use in class will be used to help expand on the creativity of my teaching and the creativity of the students learning experience. I want my students to “think outside the box” in class, and have a strong belief there are many wonderful pieces of technology which will aide in this.

I do have basic class rules:

- Be on time and ready to learn
- Be respectful of all students and their ideas
- Be accepting of new thoughts
- Be creative
- Be honest
- Be engaged

If all of these rules are met by each student, then the classroom will be a very nurturing environment for learning. I as the teacher promise to follow these very same rules.
